QoW: Indian COVID vaccines; Are they therapeutic or prophylactic in nature?

ree

This week's question of the week is from Biomolecuties' member Vartika Agarwal.

The COVID-19 vaccines are in action but have you wondered what type of vaccines are they?

Are they therapeutic or prophylactic in nature?

Let's take a call on this with respect to the different vaccines being produced in India.

Hint

A therapeutic vaccine is a vaccine that is administered after a disease or infection has already occurred whereas prophylactic or preventive vaccines are those that are administered to individuals as a precautionary measure to avoid the infection or disease. Preventive vaccines involve introducing antigens into a person's body.
